About the position

As a Part Time Head Cashier at Lowe's in Clover, South Carolina, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring smooth operations at the checkout area. Your primary responsibility will be to assist customers at the self-checkout registers, monitoring multiple stations simultaneously to identify those who may need help. You will proactively engage with customers, recommending products and services, and ensuring they have a positive shopping experience. This role requires you to be mobile, as you will be standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting to facilitate transactions and assist customers effectively. In addition to customer service, you will be responsible for executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures. This includes seeking out customers to understand their needs, assisting them in locating and selecting merchandise, and providing knowledgeable responses to inquiries. You will also coach and develop other associates, providing feedback and training on various departmental duties. Your role will involve using a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds, ensuring compliance with company guidelines. You will also be tasked with maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the store, monitoring cash levels in drawers, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. This includes conducting daily safety reviews and addressing any hazards in the store. Your responsibilities will extend to preparing the register area at the beginning and end of your shift, inspecting returned merchandise, and assisting with online orders. Overall, your role as a Head Cashier is vital in creating a welcoming environment for customers and ensuring efficient store operations.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
  • Use a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds according to company guidelines.
  • Coach, develop, and provide feedback to associates in various departmental duties.
  • Prepare the register area at the beginning and end of shifts by confirming functionality and stocking supplies.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and verify product information.
  • Monitor merchandise entering and leaving the store and assist customers who trigger alarms.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
