About the position

As a Part Time Head Cashier at Lowe's in Spartanburg, South Carolina, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring smooth operations at the checkout area. Your primary responsibility will be to assist customers at the self-checkout registers, monitoring multiple stations simultaneously to identify those who may need help. You will proactively engage with customers, recommending products and services, and ensuring they have a positive shopping experience. This role requires you to be on your feet, moving throughout the checkout area, and performing various tasks such as standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, and moving products to complete transactions accurately. In addition to assisting customers, you will be responsible for executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures. This includes seeking out customers to understand their needs, helping them locate and select merchandise, and providing knowledgeable responses to their inquiries. You will also coach and develop other associates, providing feedback and training on departmental duties and sales opportunities. Your role will involve using a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds, while ensuring compliance with company guidelines. You will also be tasked with maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the store, monitoring merchandise entering and leaving the store, and ensuring a safe working environment. This includes conducting daily safety reviews and adhering to all safety requirements relevant to your job duties. As a Head Cashier, you will be accountable for various other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the store and enhancing the customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
  • Use a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds according to company guidelines.
  • Coach, develop, and provide feedback to associates in various departmental duties.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and ensure proper handling of customer orders.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas.
  • Monitor merchandise entering and leaving the store and assist customers or associates who trigger alarms.
  • Conduct daily safety reviews and adhere to all safety requirements relevant to job duties.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Must be able to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
