About the position

As a Part Time Head Cashier at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and efficient checkout experience for our customers. Your primary responsibility will be to assist customers at the self-checkout stations, providing guidance and support as they navigate their transactions. You will be expected to monitor multiple registers simultaneously, proactively engaging with customers to recommend products and services that meet their needs. This position requires you to be on your feet, moving throughout the checkout area, and interacting with customers to ensure their satisfaction and encourage repeat business. In addition to your customer service duties, you will be responsible for training and coaching other associates in the front-end department. This includes providing feedback on their performance and helping them develop their skills in customer service and sales. You will also handle cash register operations, processing sales transactions, returns, and refunds in accordance with company policies. Your role will involve ensuring that the register area is well-stocked and functional at the beginning and end of your shift, as well as monitoring the cash drawers to maintain security and compliance with company standards. Safety and cleanliness are paramount in this role. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized checkout area, adhering to safety protocols, and monitoring for any signs of theft or security risks. Your ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members will be essential in creating a positive shopping experience and ensuring the store operates smoothly. Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
  • Coach, develop, and provide feedback to associates in the front-end department.
  • Prepare the register area at the beginning and end of shifts by confirming functionality and stocking supplies.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and process customer orders accurately.
  • Monitor merchandise entering and leaving the store and assist customers who trigger alarms.
  • Maintain a clean and organized store environment by adhering to housekeeping standards.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
