About the position

As a Part Time Head Cashier at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service while managing the self-checkout area. Your primary responsibility will be to assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers, ensuring they have a smooth and efficient shopping experience. You will proactively engage with customers, offering assistance and recommendations for products and services, while also maintaining a clean and organized checkout area. Your ability to multitask and interact positively with customers will be essential in this role. In addition to customer service, you will be responsible for supervising and coaching the Customer Service Associate (CSA) Front End Team. This includes training associates on various departmental duties and sales opportunities, as well as providing feedback to enhance their performance. You will also handle cash register operations, process sales transactions, and ensure compliance with company policies regarding cash handling and security measures. Your role will also involve maintaining the in-stock area by preparing the register area at the beginning and end of your shift, inspecting returned merchandise, and managing online orders. You will be expected to monitor merchandise entering and leaving the store, detect signs of theft, and communicate any security risks to management. Ensuring a clean and safe store environment is a key aspect of your responsibilities, which includes conducting daily safety reviews and adhering to safety requirements relevant to your job duties. Overall, this position requires a blend of customer service skills, supervisory experience, and attention to detail to ensure a positive shopping experience for customers while maintaining operational efficiency at Lowe's.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by understanding customer needs and assisting with merchandise.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
  • Supervise, coach, and train CSA Front End associates in their duties and sales opportunities.
  • Prepare the register area by confirming functionality and stocking supplies at the beginning and end of shifts.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and manage online orders.
  • Monitor merchandise entering and leaving the store and assist customers who trigger alarms.
  • Detect signs of shoplifting and communicate them to management or Asset Protection.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
