About the position

The Head Cashier at Lowe's is responsible for overseeing the checkout area, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring smooth operations at the self-checkout registers. This part-time role involves engaging with customers, training associates, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment while handling cash transactions and assisting with various store operations.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by understanding customer needs and assisting with merchandise selection.
  • Train and coach associates in departmental duties and sales opportunities.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
  • Ensure the checkout area is prepared and stocked at the beginning and end of shifts.
  • Monitor cash drawers and security measures to prevent theft and ensure safety compliance.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
