About the position

As a Part Time Head Cashier at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and efficient checkout experience for our customers. This position requires a proactive approach to customer service, where you will monitor multiple self-checkout registers, assist customers with their transactions, and provide recommendations for products and services. You will be responsible for engaging with customers, ensuring they feel valued and appreciated, and maintaining a clean and organized checkout area. Your ability to multitask and communicate effectively will be essential in this fast-paced environment. In addition to customer service, you will also oversee the cash register operations, ensuring that all transactions are processed accurately and efficiently. This includes handling returns, refunds, and providing proper monetary change to associates. You will be expected to coach and develop your team, providing feedback and training on various departmental duties. Your leadership will help create a positive work environment and enhance the overall customer experience. Safety and compliance are also key components of this role. You will monitor the cash drawers, assist in loss prevention efforts, and ensure that all safety standards are met. This includes conducting daily safety reviews and maintaining a secure work environment. You will also be responsible for preparing the register area at the beginning and end of your shift, ensuring that all equipment is functional and stocked with necessary supplies. Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
  • Coach, develop, and provide feedback to associates in various departmental duties.
  • Prepare the register area at the beginning and end of shifts by confirming functionality and stocking supplies.
  • Monitor merchandise entering and leaving the store and assist customers who trigger alarms.
  • Detect signs of shoplifting and communicate them to management and/or Asset Protection.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
