About the position

As a Part Time Head Cashier at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service while managing the self-checkout area. Your primary responsibility will be to assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers, ensuring they have a smooth and efficient shopping experience. You will proactively engage with customers, offering assistance and recommendations for products and services, while also maintaining a clean and organized checkout area. Your ability to multitask and communicate effectively will be essential as you interact with customers and support your team throughout the day. In addition to customer service, you will be responsible for supervising and coaching the Customer Service Associate (CSA) Front End Team. This includes training associates on various departmental duties and sales opportunities, as well as providing feedback to help them grow in their roles. You will also handle cash register operations, processing sales transactions, returns, and refunds in accordance with company guidelines. Your attention to detail will be vital as you monitor cash levels in drawers and ensure compliance with safety and security protocols. You will also assist in maintaining the in-stock area by preparing the register area at the beginning and end of your shift, inspecting returned merchandise, and managing online orders. Your role will require you to be vigilant about store safety, detecting signs of theft or security risks, and ensuring a clean and safe working environment for both customers and associates. Overall, your contributions will help create a positive shopping experience for customers while supporting the operational efficiency of the store.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
  • Communicate information regarding stock, special orders, and warranty information to customers.
  • Coach, develop, and provide feedback to associates on departmental duties and sales opportunities.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
  • Supervise and support the CSA Front End Team, ensuring adequate coverage at registers.
  • Prepare the register area by confirming functionality and stocking supplies at the beginning and end of shifts.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and manage online orders and returns.
  • Monitor cash levels in drawers and ensure compliance with safety and security protocols.
  • Detect signs of shoplifting and communicate them to management or Asset Protection.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas according to housekeeping standards.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
