About the position

As a Part Time Head Cashier at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and efficient checkout experience for our customers. This position requires a proactive approach to customer service, where you will monitor multiple self-checkout registers, assist customers with their transactions, and provide recommendations for products and services. You will be responsible for greeting customers, engaging with them, and ensuring that their needs are met while they navigate the checkout process. Your ability to move throughout the checkout area, standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting will be essential in maintaining an organized and efficient environment. In addition to your customer service duties, you will also be responsible for training and coaching other associates in the front-end department. This includes providing feedback on their performance and helping them develop their skills in customer service and sales. You will use a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds, ensuring compliance with company guidelines. Your role will also involve supervising the CSA Front End Team, ensuring that they have the support they need to provide excellent service to our customers. You will be expected to maintain a clean and safe store environment, which includes monitoring cash drawers, detecting signs of theft, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Your attention to detail will be critical in preparing the register area at the beginning and end of your shift, as well as inspecting returned merchandise for damages. You will also assist in managing online orders and ensuring that all products are accurately priced and displayed. Overall, this position requires a combination of customer service skills, retail experience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Your contributions will help create a positive shopping experience for our customers and support the overall success of the store.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
  • Supervise, coach, and support the CSA Front End Team.
  • Prepare the register area by confirming functionality of registers and stocking supplies.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and manage online orders.
  • Monitor cash in drawers and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Detect signs of theft and communicate them to management.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
