About the position

As a Part Time Head Cashier at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service while managing the self-checkout area. Your primary responsibility will be to assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers, ensuring they have a smooth and efficient shopping experience. You will proactively engage with customers, offering assistance and recommendations for products and services, while also maintaining a clean and organized checkout area. Your ability to multitask and communicate effectively will be essential as you interact with customers and support your team throughout the day. In addition to customer service, you will be responsible for various operational tasks, including processing sales transactions, managing cash registers, and supervising the Front End Team. You will ensure that all cash handling procedures are followed and that the register area is stocked and functional at the beginning and end of your shift. Your role will also involve monitoring for security risks, maintaining compliance with safety standards, and assisting with the overall cleanliness of the store. This position requires a strong focus on customer satisfaction, as you will be expected to listen to customer needs, provide knowledgeable assistance, and demonstrate appreciation for their business. You will also have the opportunity to coach and develop other associates, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. Your contributions will help Lowe's maintain its reputation for excellent service and a safe shopping experience for all customers.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
  • Supervise, coach, and support the CSA Front End Team.
  • Prepare the register area at the beginning and end of shifts by confirming functionality and stocking supplies.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and manage customer orders.
  • Monitor merchandise entering and leaving the store and assist customers triggering alarms.
  • Maintain compliance with safety and housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and secure work environment.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
