About the position

The Head Cashier position at Lowe's involves overseeing the checkout area, providing exceptional customer service, and supervising the cashiers. This part-time role requires engaging with customers, processing transactions, and ensuring a smooth operation at the self-checkout registers. The Head Cashier is responsible for training and coaching team members while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers.
• Provide SMART customer service by understanding customer needs and assisting with merchandise.
• Train and coach Front End associates in their duties and sales opportunities.
• Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register.
• Ensure the checkout area is stocked and functional at the beginning and end of shifts.
• Detect and report signs of shoplifting and theft to management.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas.

Requirements

• 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
• Less than 1 year of experience using a computer and retail technology.
• Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds.

Nice-to-haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
• 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
