Clark College is seeking a part-time Horn Professor to join our Music Department. This position is designed for individuals who can create and maintain a welcoming and supportive environment for students from diverse multicultural, socioeconomic, and academic backgrounds. The ideal candidate will be eager to work collaboratively to find innovative ways to improve student success and will be committed to guiding students towards achieving their academic and career goals. This ongoing recruitment allows for applications to be collected year-round, and candidates must be available to teach during daytime, evening, or weekend hours as program needs arise. As a Horn Professor, you will be responsible for instructing classes using techniques and knowledge of the discipline that facilitate student learning. You will participate in decision-making processes by engaging in department and college committees, pursue professional development, and strive to enhance teaching and learning techniques. Additionally, you will work well with individuals of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds, and you will understand and commit to the mission of Clark College. Specific responsibilities include working with the brass section in a sectional twice each term during the last hour of rehearsal, serving as Principal Horn of the orchestra during the first part of the rehearsal, and conducting a woodwind, brass, and percussion sectional while the Music Director works with the strings. You will also be required to play in five other rehearsals, the dress rehearsal, and the concert, with fixed dates for the dress rehearsal and concerts. The Music Director will provide you with copies of the scores for use in the sectionals, and while professional performance activities are encouraged, you are expected to reserve the agreed-upon dates or arrange for a mutually acceptable substitute.
