About the position

We are currently seeking a part-time HR Generalist for a container company located in the San Pedro/Harbor City area. This position is 100% on-site with no exceptions, requiring the candidate to work part-time on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8 AM to 5 PM. There is potential for hours to increase based on performance. The HR Generalist will be responsible for maintaining confidential information and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws. The role involves overseeing employee benefits, coordinating open enrollments, and managing changes related to employee benefits. Additionally, the HR Generalist will assist in payroll timekeeping and approvals, as well as coordinate staffing and recruitment processes. The HR Generalist will implement new hire orientations and handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors. This includes processing leaves of absence (LOAs), paid time off (PTOs), and other types of leaves. The HR Generalist will also attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations. Furthermore, the role involves administering the new employee onboarding process and addressing various human resource-related inquiries as needed. This position is crucial for maintaining a positive work environment and ensuring that all HR functions are carried out effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidential information related to employee records and HR processes.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years' experience in a similar HR role.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Experience in employee relations.
  • Understanding of personnel and compliance records management.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience with HRIS systems.
  • Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
