About the position

The Part-Time Institutional Research Assistant at Massachusetts Maritime Academy plays a crucial role in supporting the institution's research efforts. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about data analysis and institutional effectiveness. The assistant will be involved in various tasks that contribute to the collection, analysis, and dissemination of institutional data, which is vital for strategic planning, decision-making, program development, and assessment of student learning. The role is part-time, requiring approximately 18.5 to 25 hours per week, with flexible scheduling options available, including the possibility of remote work after an initial training period. In this role, the assistant will work closely with the Director of Institutional Research and will be responsible for assisting with institutional effectiveness protocols. This includes conducting surveys, organizing focus groups, and managing interview projects to gather qualitative and quantitative data. The assistant will also be tasked with designing and maintaining data visualizations and dashboards that present the findings in an accessible manner. Supporting regional and specialized accreditation efforts is another key responsibility, ensuring that the institution meets necessary standards and requirements. Additionally, the assistant will help update standard ongoing office publications and respond to ad hoc data requests from various stakeholders within the Academy. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in the social sciences, math, data science, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience in data analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, R, Stata, SAS).
  • Experience in student learning outcomes assessment efforts.
