About the position

The College of Southern Nevada is seeking a Part-Time Instructor for the Advanced Manufacturing Program within the Department of Workforce and Economic Development. The instructor will be responsible for developing and teaching both lab and lecture classes, focusing on various topics in Advanced Manufacturing Technology. The role includes creating student learning outcomes, evaluating student progress, and maintaining a positive learning environment. The instructor will also collaborate with the Director of Advanced Manufacturing to align credit and non-credit courses and facilitate industry partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and instruct lab and lecture classes in Advanced Manufacturing Technology.
  • Create student learning outcomes and course descriptions.
  • Organize instruction to achieve student learning objectives.
  • Select textbooks and curriculum materials.
  • Evaluate student mastery and provide feedback.
  • Maintain a safe and positive classroom and laboratory environment.
  • Assist with program assessment and curriculum development.
  • Mentor students and assess their learning and progress.
  • Participate in professional development activities and outreach to the community.
  • Supervise student assistants and staff as necessary.
  • Collaborate with other instructors and staff on various duties.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical or Electrical Technology, or related field, or a minimum of 5 years of industrial experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of industrial experience (preferred).
  • Minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in Career and Technical Education (preferred).

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in education, adult education, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching IET programs in a CTE setting.
  • Experience teaching ABE, including ESL, math, and reading.
  • Ten or more years of work experience in the industry.
  • Two or more years of experience teaching in Career and Technical Education.
  • Industrial certifications.
  • Experience teaching online/hybrid classes using Canvas.
  • Experience creating a college curriculum.
  • Experience developing industrial or engineering technology labs in a college setting.
  • Experience working in diverse multicultural situations.
