About the position

The College of Southern Nevada is seeking a Part-Time Advanced Manufacturing - Machining Instructor to teach within the Advanced Manufacturing Program. The role involves developing and instructing lab and lecture classes, creating student learning outcomes, and ensuring a safe and positive learning environment. The instructor will focus on various topics in Advanced Manufacturing Technology, including CNC machining, and will engage in program assessment and curriculum development.

Responsibilities

• Develop and instruct lab and lecture classes in Advanced Manufacturing.
• Create student learning outcomes and course descriptions.
• Organize instruction to achieve student learning objectives.
• Select textbooks and other curriculum materials.
• Confer with students and evaluate their mastery of the subject matter.
• Maintain a safe and positive classroom and laboratory environment.
• Participate in program assessment and curriculum development.
• Mentor students and assess their learning and progress.
• Maintain accurate student records and uphold professional standards.
• Participate in professional development activities and outreach to the community.
• Supervise student assistants and collaborate with other instructors.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, or five years of industrial experience in a machining environment.
• Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a machining environment using CNC Mill/Lathe Machines.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree in education, adult education, or a related field.
• Experience teaching IET programs in a CTE setting.
• Experience teaching ABE, including ESL, math, and reading.
• 10 or more years of work experience in Manufacturing or Industrial Technologies.
• 5 or more years of work experience in Machining.
• 1 or more years of experience teaching in Career and Technical Education.
• Leadership/Management Experience.
• Industrial certifications such as NIMS, NC3, etc.
• Experience teaching online/hybrid classes, Canvas.
• Experience creating a college curriculum.
• Experience developing an industrial lab in a college setting.
• Experience working in diverse multicultural situations.
