About the position

LaGuardia Community College is seeking a part-time instructor for the Computer and Network Service Technician Program. The instructor will teach a hybrid IT Support Specialist Certificate training course designed to prepare students for entry-level IT Support Specialist jobs and the CompTIA A+ certification exam. The role involves delivering engaging training sessions, creating interactive instructional materials, and facilitating hands-on learning experiences for students.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver dynamic and engaging training sessions that cover essential concepts and skills for the CompTIA A+ certification.
• Develop instructional materials, including presentations, lab exercises, and simulations.
• Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of hardware, installation, programming, maintenance, networking, and troubleshooting.
• Guide students through practical labs and exercises to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios.
• Evaluate student progress through assessments, assignments, quizzes, and exams, providing constructive feedback.
• Accurately record student attendance and track performance throughout the course.

Requirements

• Expert understanding of hardware components, operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), and troubleshooting methodologies.
• Ability to deliver engaging and effective training sessions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• A minimum of 5 years' experience working in Computer Tech.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as information technology or computer science) is preferred.
• Must hold a CompTIA A+ certification.
• Prior experience in teaching, training, or mentoring individuals in IT-related topics is a strong asset.
