About the position

The Part-Time Instructor for Interior Design at Central Piedmont Community College is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in the field of interior design. This role emphasizes mastery of subject matter, effective teaching performance, evaluation of student learning, and support of college policies. The instructor will engage in professional development, utilize technology in teaching, and contribute to the growth of the college's mission and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of interior design and related fields.
  • Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning.
  • Employ appropriate teaching strategies to communicate subject matter effectively.
  • Modify instructional methods to meet diverse student needs.
  • Utilize instructional technology to enhance the educational experience.
  • Establish meaningful learning outcomes for courses.
  • Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit grades on time.
  • Post and maintain regular office hours for student advisement.
  • Participate in college, divisional, and program activities.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Interior Design or related field.
  • One year of industry-related work experience in interior design or a related certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or related field.
  • Teaching experience in a community college or university setting.
  • Two years of professional experience in interior design.
  • Experience with software such as Adobe, Revit, AutoCAD, and Sketchup.
