About the position

Santa Barbara City College is seeking part-time faculty for Older Adults-Creative Art courses at the School of Extended Learning. The role involves providing quality instruction in noncredit courses, creating an engaging learning environment, and utilizing technology in teaching. The position requires planning lessons, preparing instructional materials, and monitoring student progress.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality instruction in noncredit courses for older adults.
• Create and maintain an environment that emphasizes teaching and learning.
• Encourage free discussion of ideas, interests, and issues among students.
• Plan lessons and prepare instructional materials, including syllabi.
• Utilize technology as part of classroom instruction.
• Monitor student progress and modify teaching approaches as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with a major related to the subject of the course taught, and either 30 hours of coursework in understanding the needs of older adults or one year of professional experience working with older adults.
• Associate degree with a major related to the subject of the course taught and two years of occupational experience related to the subject, along with 60 hours of coursework in understanding the needs of older adults.
• Possession of a full-time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in the subject matter.
