About the position

The Part-Time IT Support Specialist provides technology support for the University of Denver's faculty, staff, and students. This role involves assisting with computer hardware and software issues, managing accounts, and maintaining university-owned computers. The specialist works closely with the IT Customer Services department to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth operation of IT services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional customer service to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Gather, analyze, interpret, and present IT and business information for operational purposes.
  • Perform IT support activities including networking, printing administration, and workstation/client support.
  • Provide service via phone, online, in person at the Help Center, and in the field.
  • Test and document applications for compatibility with university systems.
  • Consult with clients to determine how to apply technical resources to solve business needs.
  • Diagnose and resolve reported difficulties or escalate to appropriate specialists.
  • Respond to hardware failures, malware threats, software troubleshooting requests, and networking issues.
  • Install, configure, and maintain systems hardware and software, including Windows and Mac operating systems.
  • Audit equipment and maintain inventory of workstations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or experience in a related field.
  • Flexibility of schedule to accommodate nights and/or weekend shifts.
  • Experience navigating MacOS and Windows-based operating systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience/education.
  • 1-2 years of IT experience in workstation/client support.
  • Certifications such as Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP), Apple Certified Technical Coordinator (ACTC), or Dell hardware repair certifications.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft Exchange, LDAP authentication, and VMWare deployments.
  • Experience in a higher education setting.
