About the position

The Key Holder at JOANN plays a pivotal role in delivering a premium customer experience, ensuring that every customer feels inspired and welcomed in the store. This position is not just about managing the store; it’s about creating a joyful environment where creativity flourishes. Key Holders are responsible for driving sales through their advanced product knowledge and innovative merchandising techniques. They are also tasked with maintaining counter accuracy and assisting the Store Management team in leading the store team members. This includes observing and coaching individuals, as well as performing essential operational duties such as opening and closing the store, ensuring compliance with store policies, and finding creative ways to drive business growth. In their daily interactions, Key Holders greet every customer with enthusiasm, utilizing the F.A.S.T. service model to meet customer needs effectively. They engage customers in friendly conversations about their projects while assisting them at the cutting counter and cash register. The role requires processing transactions efficiently and maintaining a high level of professionalism. Key Holders are also responsible for the physical aspects of the store, including unloading freight, stocking shelves according to planograms, and ensuring the sales floor is clean and organized. They actively invite customers to participate in store activities and classes, fostering a community atmosphere that encourages creativity and engagement. Moreover, Key Holders work closely with Store Management to identify key tasks and delegate responsibilities to team members, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. They may act as the Manager on Duty (MOD) when store management is unavailable, showcasing their leadership skills and ability to manage store operations independently. This role is essential in maintaining JOANN's commitment to providing an exceptional in-store experience and building strong customer relationships that align with the brand's values of creativity and inspiration.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a premium customer experience by inspiring creativity within customers.
  • Drive sales through advanced product knowledge and innovative merchandising.
  • Assist the Store Management team in leading store team members by observing and coaching individuals.
  • Perform operational duties including opening and closing the store and ensuring compliance with store policies.
  • Engage with customers using the F.A.S.T. service model to meet their needs.
  • Process customer transactions efficiently and professionally at the cutting counter and cash register.
  • Unload freight from the truck and sort it according to company procedures.
  • Stock shelves accurately according to planogram while maintaining high productivity.
  • Maintain high standards throughout the sales floor by cleaning and organizing shelves and handling returns.
  • Invite customers to participate in store activities and classes to enhance their experience.
  • Minimize shrink by ensuring compliance with policies and procedures related to inventory management.
  • Collaborate with Store Management to identify opportunities for business growth and increased sales.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent education.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience in a customer-centric environment.
  • Preferred: 2-3 years of retail supervisory experience.
