About the position

The position of Trainer at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College focuses on designing and delivering customized welding training tailored to the needs of marine manufacturing organizations. The trainer is responsible for managing the instructional process, developing curriculum, and fostering a productive learning environment. This role emphasizes collaboration with diverse stakeholders and a commitment to equity and inclusion within the educational community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customized welding training for marine manufacturing organizations in a flexible work-based environment.
  • Manage the instructional process, including curriculum review and development, and student advising.
  • Train on courses including Blueprint Reading, Welding (various techniques), Metal Fabrication, and related Math.
  • Respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns.
  • Conduct training assignments primarily in the Sturgeon Bay area, with potential travel to other locations as needed.

Requirements

  • Two years of successful direct occupational experience or an equivalent combination of education and directly related work experience.
  • Must pass Practical Welding Testing.
  • Recognized Welding Certifications preferred, such as Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Welding Educator (CWE).
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with sensitivity to a diverse community.
  • Previous teaching experience with adult learners is desired.
  • Knowledge of ABS American Bureau of Rules and various welding safety codes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of weld safety, codes, blueprints, various metals and alloys.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours including evenings and weekends when requested.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
