About the position

The Material Handler Associate at Goodwill plays a crucial role in the production team by ensuring the efficient movement and storage of donated products. This part-time position involves operating electric forklifts and pallet jacks to support production flow, particularly during evenings and weekends. The role is essential for maintaining productivity and organization within the warehouse, contributing to Goodwill's mission of helping individuals achieve economic and personal independence.

Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed minimum productivity standards and expectations for assigned duties.
  • Use and become certified on pallet jack, forklift, hand dolly, or other equipment to effectively move and store donated products.
  • Ensure that all areas of production have sufficient materials to work with to minimize downtime.
  • Proactively prepare materials or storage containers to anticipate the needs of the production team.
  • Ensure that the warehouse and trailers are well organized, stocked, and clean.
  • Prepare items for shipment and track products that are both shipped and received by the Retail Center docks.
  • Complete duties accurately, safely, and timely to ensure items are handled appropriately.
  • Promote and demonstrate positive teamwork and cooperation.
  • Adapt and use technology as it becomes available to operate efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to provide a safe and efficient workflow.
  • Follow all company and department policies and procedures.
  • Cross-train and work in other areas as assigned by management.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous storage, moving, or shipping/receiving experience is helpful.
  • Able to obtain Powered Equipment Operator certification to safely operate equipment.
  • High attention to detail and ability to make decisions.
  • Able to withstand prolonged standing, bending, and lifting up to 8 hours per day.
  • Able to lift up to 75lbs, use a dolly and pallet jack as required.
  • Able to communicate effectively with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience with a forklift is a plus.
