About the position
The Medical Assistant, Float Team - SLPG at St. Luke's University Health Network is responsible for providing healthcare support across various practices within a defined region. This role requires a flexible and multidisciplinary skillset, as the Medical Assistant will assist in patient care, coordinate with healthcare providers, and ensure the smooth operation of clinical activities. The position emphasizes teamwork, communication, and a commitment to quality care.
Responsibilities
- Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating the patient's medical record prior to the appointment.
- Completes pre-charting of all value-based pieces up to five days prior to patient's appointment.
- Responsible for preparing patients for examination and escorting them into the exam room.
- Provides other patient care services as needed, including maintaining exam rooms and clinical supplies.
- Communicates and coordinates with providers or Care Team regarding patient care and education.
- Actively participates in department activities and quality improvement initiatives.
- Responsible for disposing of Bio-Hazardous waste and maintaining vaccine temperature logs.
- Performs administrative tasks such as check-in and check-out functions.
Requirements
- High School degree or equivalent required.
- Graduates of accredited Medical Assistant programs are strongly preferred.
- Preferred: Two years' experience in a similar healthcare setting.
- Customer service experience is strongly preferred.
