About the position

We are a Pulmonary & Sleep medicine practice seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Assistant to join our team. This position is available for both full-time and part-time candidates who are proficient in both English and Spanish. The ideal candidate will assist in various front and back office medical assistant duties, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation within our practice. We value excellent customer service, responsibility, and strong time management skills. The successful candidate will demonstrate good work ethics, reliability, organization, efficiency, and the ability to multitask. Problem-solving and analytical skills are essential, as is the ability to remain calm and adaptable in a fast-paced environment. A positive attitude and a willingness to learn are also crucial attributes we seek in our team members. Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of experience dealing with insurance processes, including requesting and verifying authorizations and pre-certifications, as well as sending referrals. Experience in scheduling outpatient procedures is preferred, along with familiarity with authorization processes. While experience in pulmonary and sleep medicine is a plus, it is not a requirement. Proficiency in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR), particularly Epic, is preferred, as is experience in allergy treatments and performing Pulmonary Function Tests (PFT). Candidates must also be proficient in typing and using Microsoft Office applications. The role involves a variety of responsibilities, including greeting patients upon arrival, answering phone calls, scheduling and managing appointments, checking patients in and out, performing PFTs and spirometry tests, collecting payments, documenting patient information in EMR, and managing insurance authorizations. The Medical Assistant will also be responsible for organizing patient paperwork and communicating with other medical offices. Cross-training on both front and back office duties is expected, and the position does not require night or weekend coverage.
