About the position

Saxon MD Facial Plastic Surgery is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to join their Austin location. This role involves supporting a reputable surgical practice, with responsibilities including patient care, assisting in procedures, and maintaining a clean and organized environment. The position offers the potential for future full-time employment and requires a self-motivated individual with experience in a medical or surgical setting, particularly in plastic surgery.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in patient intake and communication under the direction of the Clinical Manager.
  • Schedule surgeries and coordinate with relevant entities to ensure seamless planning.
  • Perform blood draws for Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) and Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) procedures.
  • Remove sutures and staples as needed and insert peripheral IV lines as required.
  • Maintain inventory of surgical equipment and notify management when orders need to be placed.
  • Sterilize surgical instruments according to established guidelines and set up procedure rooms for in-office procedures.
  • Capture before and after photos and upload them into Symplast.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and OSHA regulations, maintaining patient confidentiality and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical or surgical setting, preferably in plastic surgery.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; certification as a medical assistant or relevant medical training preferred.
  • Valid Certified Phlebotomy Technician certification required.
  • Proficiency with HIPAA compliance and electronic medical records (EMR) software.
  • Knowledge of sterile techniques and infection control.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a plastic surgery setting is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
