About the position

The Customer Service role at Lowe's is designed to provide SMART customer service through the execution of company policies, procedures, and programs. This position primarily focuses on building relationships with vendors and ensuring that merchandise resets are completed according to Lowe's specifications. The individual will collaborate closely with the Merchandising Service team and Manager to communicate project priorities, schedules, and needs, including materials and supplies. While a significant portion of the role involves tasks that do not require direct customer interaction, the employee is expected to engage with customers whenever opportunities arise. This includes understanding customer needs and assisting them in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise. The role also requires listening to and responding knowledgeably to customer inquiries, providing information about stock, special orders, and warranty details related to Lowe's programs. In terms of merchandising, the employee will be responsible for ensuring that plants are merchandised according to the plantogram, including pricing and color blocking. They will fill plant racks to meet grand opening standards, identify and order replacements for damaged signage, and update wayfinding and product location signage. The role also involves ensuring that cross merchandise and other products are placed appropriately to drive sales, as well as assisting with the culling and pricing of dead and distressed plants. Communication with the manager and red vest associates is crucial, as is the ability to identify and communicate issues regarding quality and quantity of products. Maintaining a clean and safe store environment is another key responsibility. This includes completing and entering details for service and maintenance tasks, ensuring displays are safe and in working order, and removing trash and debris. The employee will also be responsible for detecting signs of theft and security risks, ensuring compliance with housekeeping standards, and maintaining a safe work environment. Operating store equipment as needed is also part of the job, along with being accountable for other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Provides SMART customer service at all times through the daily execution of Lowe's customer service policies, procedures and programs
  • Builds relationships with vendors by providing direction and checking to ensure merchandise resets are completed according to Lowe's specifications
  • Collaborates with the Merchandising Service team and Manager by communicating project priorities, schedule, and project needs
  • Engages with customers to understand their needs and assists in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and/or loading merchandise
  • Listens to and responds knowledgeably and promptly to customer and employee questions
  • Demonstrates sincere appreciation to customers
  • Communicates information to customers regarding all stock, special order merchandise, feature benefits, application, and warranty information
  • Merchandises to plantogram, price, color block and places plants as they arrive
  • Fills plant racks onto plant tables per plantogram to grand opening ready standards
  • Identifies damaged or missing signage, displays, and collateral and orders replacements in accordance with merchandising standards
  • Updates/validates wayfinding and product location signage as well as digital maintenance of this information throughout the store
  • Ensures cross merchandise, side stack products, j-hooks and gravity feed bins are placed appropriately
  • Assists with culling and pricing dead and distressed plants
  • Maintains a high level of communication and partnership with manager and red vest associates
  • Identifies and communicates issues with quality, quantity and additional needs to Red Vest Outside Garden Manager and MSM
  • Adjusts fixtures, rotates stock, and displays products and support materials using power equipment
  • Reviews, completes, and enters completion details for all assigned service and maintenance tasks
  • Ensures all displays are safe and in working order and repaired/replaced as needed
  • Repairs/seals damaged packaging and boxes including peg-hook items
  • Removes all trash, moves cardboard boxes to the bailer and moves plastic wrap and other debris to the compactor
  • Replaces light bulbs and alerts the appropriate contact when additional maintenance issues are noted
  • Detects common signs of shoplifting, theft, and other security risks, and promptly communicates them to management and/or Asset Protection
  • Ensures compliance with housekeeping standards and programs to maintain cleanliness and organization of Outside Garden and working areas
  • Maintains a safe and secure work environment, which may include conducting daily safety reviews, noting hazards, keeping aisles clear, and securing doors and gates
  • Adheres to all safety requirements relevant to one's regular job duties
  • Operates store equipment as needed depending on one specific role and department

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction)
  • Ability to work overnight and weekends
  • Ability to utilize web-based computer programs to accomplish assigned tasks

Nice-to-haves

  • Education Level: High School or GED
  • Working knowledge of basic tools needed for the job (e.g., hand tools, drills, saws)
  • 6 Months Live nursery experience or Lowe's sales floor experience
  • 6 Months Experience performing product merchandising tasks including reading plantograms, setting up and tearing down displays
  • 3 Months Experience operating power equipment such as lifts, order pickers, and similar equipment
