About the position

The Part-Time MicroStation Drafter position is a unique opportunity for a skilled individual to collaborate with engineers in creating detailed drafting documents for highly technical engineering solutions. This role is fully remote, allowing the selected candidate to work from the comfort of their home while contributing to IT Telecom Projects. The position requires a strong background in engineering and extensive experience with Bently MicroStation, as well as proficiency in various software tools such as Adobe Pro, Visio, and Google Earth Pro. The drafter will be responsible for downloading native drawings and transforming them into comprehensive documentation that meets the specific needs of the projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in the power or telecom industry, particularly in roles that involve creating construction packages and working with cross-functional teams. This position demands a high level of organization, the ability to multitask, and strong interpersonal skills to foster team development. The drafter will be expected to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to tight deadlines, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and meets the required standards. As a part-time role, the position offers flexibility with a schedule of 30 to 40 hours per week, depending on business needs. The pay rate is competitive at $35 per hour on a W2 basis, and the duration of the contract is long-term, contingent upon the client's requirements. Candidates must be California residents and will be provided with a laptop and MicroStation software to perform their duties effectively.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a collaborative and supportive team environment.
• Work remotely from home, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with team members.
• Download native drawings and create documentation for IT Telecom Projects utilizing Bently MicroStation, Adobe Pro, Visio, and Google Earth Pro.
• Manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while adhering to tight deadlines.
• Create detailed drafting documents in support of construction packages for programs involving cross-functional teams.
• Build strong interpersonal relationships conducive to team development.
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with team members and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Education, classes, and experience in engineering.
• 5+ years of Bently MicroStation experience at an expert level.
• 3+ years as a Design Drafter in the power or telecom industry, with trainable experience in substation, gas, or communications.
• Experience working with engineers to create drafting documents for highly technical engineering solutions.
• Proven track record of success and delivering results.
• Strong sense of methodology, process, and metrics in managing functions under tight deadlines.
• Experience in creating detailed drafting documents for construction packages.
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects effectively.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Solid experience working with facilities, engineering, and systems administration teams.
• Proficiency in Adobe Pro, Excel, Visio, and MS Office suite.
• Ability to pass a NERC level background check.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience creating drafting documentation for telecommunication solutions including Fiber, Microwave, SONET MUX, MHz, Radio, FAN, Circuits, Power, Switches, Routers, TCP/IP.
• Experience updating Telecom Interconnect drawings, LAN/WAN drawings, FDFs, AMPS containers, Tower drawings, RFEs, and DDL's with links.
