About the position

The Part Time Middle School Career Coach will work primarily on middle school campuses to provide career coaching services to students, helping them explore various career pathways. This role involves marketing career coaching services to students, school personnel, parents, and other stakeholders, while building relationships with both educational and industry partners.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional appearance and attitude toward students, faculty, and staff.
• Adhere to all Ascension Parish School Board (APSB) policies and laws regarding student records.
• Work collaboratively with counselors at local middle schools and high school Career Coaches.
• Meet with students individually or in small groups to discuss career goals, attendance, and academic performance.
• Refer students to Guidance Counselors for academic or personal needs beyond the Career Coach's services.
• Assist students in exploring career pathways and opportunities.
• Develop connections and coordinate community outreach programs for student resources.
• Coordinate employment outreach programs for student internships and job experiences.
• Administer the APSB Career Assessment Program to students and lead discussions on assessment results.
• Schedule and attend conferences with parents to discuss student progress.
• Identify opportunities to improve service and work processes within the school system.
• Support new co-workers and promote teamwork throughout the school system.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree from a nationally or regionally accredited college or university.
• Record keeping and data collection skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours during the school day.
• Experience or a combination of education and experience demonstrating the ability to perform the responsibilities of this position.
