Hearing Screening Associates (HSA) is a full-service company dedicated to providing comprehensive hearing screening services for newborn infants. The Newborn Hearing Screening Technician plays a crucial role in this process by conducting mandated hearing screening tests for newborns, which is essential as hearing loss is one of the most prevalent birth defects in the United States. If left undetected, hearing loss can result in significant speech and language developmental delays, making early detection vital for positive outcomes in infant development. The part-time Screening Technician will be responsible for performing hearing screenings on all infants in the nursery and NICU before they are discharged from the hospital. This position is particularly suitable for stay-at-home parents, retirees, and college students looking to earn supplemental income. The role is located at West Jefferson Medical Center LCMC in Marrero, LA, with a schedule that includes alternating weekends starting at 8 AM daily, offering approximately 8-10 hours of work per week. The pay rate is $16.00 per hour, with an additional $1.00 differential for weekend shifts. In addition to conducting screenings, the technician will coordinate post-discharge follow-up care as necessary, utilizing appropriate procedures and computer technology. The role requires effective communication with nursing staff, patients, and parents to emphasize the importance of hearing screening and early intervention. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining and using hearing screening equipment, assisting with database management, and interacting with various hospital departments while adhering to the policies and procedures of HSA and the hospital.
