About the position
The Part-Time Nursing Assistant at Penn Presbyterian Cardiac Med/Surg Tele plays a crucial role in delivering quality patient care under the supervision of registered nurses. This position involves collaboration with healthcare team members to support patient needs, assist in assessments, and ensure a safe and effective care environment. The nursing assistant is responsible for various patient care tasks, including monitoring vital signs, assisting with daily living activities, and reporting any changes in patient conditions.
Responsibilities
- Receive and report on patient care from the registered nurse at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Assist in the assessment of patients by collecting vital signs and other relevant data, communicating changes to the RN.
- Participate in setting realistic patient goals and integrate the RN's care plan into daily activities.
- Promote infection control and maintain a safe environment for patients.
- Monitor patients' health states and communicate observations to the healthcare team.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, and feeding.
- Provide support for patients' dietary and elimination needs as directed by the RN.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and staff meetings to enhance patient care.
Requirements
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification (Required).
- CPR certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) (Required).
- Certified Nursing Assistant certification from the state of Pennsylvania (Required).
- High School Diploma or GED (Required).
- Completion of a certified nursing assistant program or enrollment in an accredited ASN nursing program with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
