About the position

The part-time Office Assistant I position in the Police Records Unit is responsible for providing customer service to citizens interacting with the police department. This role involves handling open records requests, processing payments, and maintaining records in compliance with legal standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assists customers with open records requests
  • Accepts and logs payments for documents and services
  • Provides fingerprinting services
  • Provides local criminal history checks in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Processes incoming office mail
  • Performs data entry into the police records management system
  • Prepares, files and maintains physical or electronic records and documents in required formats
  • Conducts database searches
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of experience in customer service-related field
  • Ability to successfully pass a typing test with a minimum of 40 WPM
  • Pass extensive criminal background check and polygraph exam and evaluation

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in law enforcement office
  • Familiar with law enforcement terminology
