About the position

Mayfield is seeking a part-time Payroll Specialist to join our Human Resources Department at our Norwood location. This position requires working in-office three days a week, with flexible days available. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for managing the payroll process, ensuring that associates are paid accurately and on time. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity of payroll operations and requires a strong understanding of payroll systems, particularly ADP Workforce Now and Essential Time. The ideal candidate will have over five years of full-cycle payroll processing experience, preferably in a large and complex organization. The Payroll Specialist will also be expected to implement enhancements to the payroll process and identify features within ADP that can be activated to improve efficiency. In addition to payroll processing, the Payroll Specialist will manage the payroll/timecard system, execute bi-weekly transmittals to ADP, and partner with timekeepers on timecard entries and approvals. The role involves processing new hires, terminations, and changes in associate information and compensation. The Payroll Specialist will need to stay updated on federal, state, and local legislation affecting payroll and provide excellent service related to all payroll tasks, including deductions, taxes, and accruals. This position also requires collaboration with colleagues in Recruiting, Benefits, and Finance to ensure alignment in payroll processes and reporting. The Payroll Specialist will serve as a backup to the HR Consultant for benefit enrollments and contributions to third-party vendors, and will be responsible for identifying and implementing ongoing process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on all payroll-related topics under the direction of the Director, Human Resources.
  • Ensure associates are paid accurately and on time.
  • Manage payroll/timecard system, executing bi-weekly transmittal to ADP within established deadlines and with exceptional accuracy.
  • Partner with timekeepers on timecard entries and approvals.
  • Process new hires, terminations, and changes in associate information and compensation.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on federal, state, and local legislation affecting payroll.
  • Provide prompt, courteous, and efficient service related to all payroll-related tasks (pay, deductions, taxes, accruals, etc.).
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure payroll processes align with Recruiting, Benefits, Finance, etc.
  • Create and disseminate various payroll reports.
  • Serve as backup to HR Consultant for submitting benefit enrollment/changes and contributions to third-party vendors.
  • Identify and implement changes for ongoing process improvement.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of full cycle payroll processing experience within ADP Workforce Now/Essential Time, preferably in a large, complex organization.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now & Essential Time required.
  • Ability to implement enhancements to the payroll process within ADP.
  • Proficient knowledge of tax-related and other withholding matters (Federal, State, Local, Social Security, Medicare, Local School Districts, Benefits, etc.).
  • Knowledge of wage & hours laws.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Teams.
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
