About the position

The Part Time Preload Supervisor position at UPS is a critical role that involves training and supervising Package Handlers and Clerks to ensure safety, productivity, and adherence to job-related tasks. This position is essential in maintaining the operational efficiency of the preload process, which is a vital component of UPS's logistics and delivery services. The supervisor will be responsible for fostering a positive work environment by developing and maintaining good working relationships with employees, management, and customers. This includes facilitating training sessions for both new hires and current employees, ensuring that all team members are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively. In addition to training, the supervisor will conduct and participate in group meetings to discuss performance, address any concerns, and coordinate evaluations with management. A key aspect of this role is to supervise the daily activities of package handlers and clerks, ensuring that all assigned duties are accomplished safely and in a timely manner. The supervisor must also demonstrate a strong understanding of UPS's high ethical standards and code of conduct, serving as a role model for the team. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, as the supervisor will need to determine the best solutions for package concerns that may arise during operations. This role is designed for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced warehouse environment and are capable of multitasking while maintaining strong communication skills. The ability to lift up to 70 lbs. and work flexible shift hours, up to five days per week, is essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Train and supervise Package Handlers and Clerks on safety, productivity, and job-related tasks.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with employees, management, and customers.
  • Facilitate training sessions for new and current employees.
  • Conduct and participate in group meetings to discuss performance and address concerns.
  • Coordinate evaluations with management to assess employee performance.
  • Determine best solutions for package concerns that arise during operations.
  • Supervise daily activities of package handlers and clerks to ensure all assigned duties are accomplished safely and timely.
  • Demonstrate UPS's high ethical standards and code of conduct consistently.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift 70 lbs./32 kgs.
  • Availability to work flexible shift hours, up to 5 days per week.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree or International equivalent - Preferred.
  • Management experience - Preferred.
