About the position
The Research Lab Technician will engage in basic and translational research in immunology, focusing on B cell development and function through studies involving animal models and patient samples. The role offers the opportunity to utilize innovative laboratory techniques and contribute to significant scientific inquiries.
Responsibilities
- Communicates problems or matters of a scientific, technical and/or administrative nature within the department utilizing computer technology.
- Maintains accurate records of tests conducted, results, data, and patients tested, including calculation of results from supplied data, obtained data, and statistics for quality assurance.
- Maintains a clean and efficient work area and replenishes supplies as necessary.
- Responsible for inventory maintenance at each bench assignment.
- Performs various assays on purified populations, including immunofluorescent staining, ELISPOT, ELISA, RNA isolation/RT-PCR.
- Prepares stock solutions and reagents.
- Tests serum and complement.
- Availability to work occasional overtime on weekends or evenings to complete time-sensitive projects.
- Acquires knowledge for new technology and policy/procedure revisions.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Working toward a B.S. or B.A. degree, preferably in Biology, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
- Ability to recognize priorities in organization of work flow.
- Ability to perform duties independently with minimal supervision.

- Experience with flow cytometric analysis.

- Experience with vertical and horizontal gel electrophoresis.
