About the position

The Part-Time Retail Associate is a vital member of our Store Operations Team, responsible for ensuring that our customers have an exceptional shopping experience. Located at 3123 Baldwin Park Boulevard, Baldwin Park, California, this role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about customer service and community engagement. As a Part-Time Retail Associate, you will be the face of our store, providing excellent customer service and maintaining a clean and organized shopping environment. Your primary responsibilities will include stocking shelves with fresh food, ensuring proper pricing, and creating promotional displays to attract customers. You will also assist customers with their purchases, providing them with product information and helping them load their items into their vehicles. This position requires a commitment to maintaining high sanitation standards throughout the store and parking lot, as well as performing basic bookkeeping duties related to lost or damaged goods. In this role, you will be expected to interact positively with customers and co-workers, demonstrating effective communication skills. You will need to read and comprehend product labels, pricing codes, and instructions, as well as write simple correspondence. The ability to lift and move products of varying weights is essential, as you will regularly handle items weighing up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 45 pounds, and occasionally up to 60 pounds. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and are eager to contribute to the success of our store and the satisfaction of our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a store section as assigned and stock merchandise using proper equipment (excluding power/heavy equipment).
  • Ensure proper pricing on merchandise and check product date codes to validate proper rotation.
  • Stock shelves, end displays, floor stacks, displays, and refrigerated/frozen cases.
  • Prepare perishable products for sale as needed.
  • Set up advertising/promotional displays.
  • Clean and maintain sanitation standards in all interior and exterior areas of the store and parking lot as directed by store management.
  • Offer friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, and courteous assistance to customers by providing them with current store and product information.
  • Assist customers with loading their purchases into their vehicles when requested.
  • Perform basic bookkeeping duties, including recording lost/damaged goods and store supplies using appropriate tools.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and write English and interact with the general public and co-workers.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, product pricing codes, shelf tags, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
