About the position
The Portage Community School District is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse for the 2024-2025 school year. This role involves providing nursing services to students from early childhood through 12th grade, working approximately 12 hours per week. The position is temporary, starting in December 2024 and concluding in June 2025, with the possibility of increased hours. The nurse will be responsible for emergency nursing services and managing health needs in accordance with district policies and Wisconsin laws.
Responsibilities
- Provide emergency nursing services during the school day.
- Manage health and illness needs of students according to PCSD policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with Wisconsin immunization laws.
- Assist students in obtaining appropriate health care services.
- Carry out the district's school nursing and health services programs.
Requirements
- Current unrestricted Wisconsin RN license under Wis. Stat. Ch. 441.
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing or an Associate degree in nursing with an approved public/community health theory course.
- Experience working with children with chronic and acute health conditions for one year or more.
- Current Healthcare Provider/Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR with AED certification.
- Valid Wisconsin driver's license and reliable vehicle.
