The Part-Time Salvager for Reuse at Urban Ore is responsible for salvaging reusable objects and recyclable materials from the City of Berkeley Transfer Station. This role involves physical labor and teamwork to recover discarded resources, ensuring they are processed and marketed effectively to prevent waste and promote sustainability. The position is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work and have a passion for environmental conservation.
Responsibilities
- Salvage reusable objects and recyclable nonferrous metals from the City of Berkeley Transfer Station.
- Receive incoming recyclables and sort them appropriately.
- Upgrade and transport recyclable metals to buyers.
- Assist team members as required in various tasks related to salvaging and recycling.
Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 pounds safely and walk 50 feet carrying it.
- Experience in load and unload tasks.
- Ability to work safely around heavy equipment using hand-signal communications protocols.
- Capacity to maintain an effective pace during physical labor for most of the workday.
