Eastside Academy is an independent, alternative, Christian high school located in Bellevue, Washington, dedicated to serving approximately 40 students who have struggled to find success in traditional educational settings. The school aims to restore trust, purpose, and hope in its students through meaningful learning experiences, licensed counseling, and supportive housing. As a part-time Spanish Teacher, you will play a crucial role in guiding students on their journey toward adulthood and vocational readiness. You will create a warm, welcoming, and supportive learning environment where students feel safe, challenged, and inspired to engage with the subject matter and its relevance to their lives. In this role, you will work under the guidance of the Director of Learning, committing to the school's instructional approach while seeking opportunities to integrate classroom learning with other components of the school's program, including counseling, housing, mentoring, and various retreats and activities. You will be expected to exemplify the principles of servant leadership, demonstrating personal integrity and professionalism in all interactions. Your responsibilities will include equipping students to view their learning as an act of worship, encouraging a deeper understanding of God through the subject matter, and actively modeling a fellowship of Christians growing together in faith. You will also be responsible for preparing engaging unit and lesson plans, maintaining a caring and safe classroom environment, and communicating regularly with parents and caregivers. This position requires a commitment to professional growth and development, as well as a passion for improving student learning outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching, preferably in a Christian independent school, and will be open to innovative teaching models such as Project-based Learning and Expeditionary Learning. This part-time position is not eligible for benefits and will require teaching two core classes and one elective class, with a work year spanning approximately 190 days from late August to late June.
