About the position

The Part-Time Specialist III in the Bursar's Office at Lone Star College-Montgomery is responsible for providing clerical, administrative, and operational support under general supervision. This role involves handling monetary transactions for student accounts, guiding students regarding tuition and fees, and ensuring compliance with financial reporting requirements. The position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and resolve issues with students and third-party sponsors regarding billing and payment of tuition and fees.
  • Communicate with students, staff, and outside parties regarding tuition and fees owed and accounts sent to collections.
  • Manage cash received by balancing cash drawers and preparing bank deposits.
  • Apply waivers, exemptions, and third-party payments to student accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with established customer service plans and LSC policies through accurate communications.
  • Account for cash, checks, and credit card payments for various LSC services and activities.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries and manage petty cash orders.
  • Submit void and re-issue forms for checks as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Detailed analytical skills and a high level of accounting knowledge.
  • Proficiency in standard software applications and personal computer workstations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a responsive environment and follow specific procedures.
