About the position
The Part-Time Student - Engine Performance Analyst role at John Deere is designed for students pursuing an engineering degree, allowing them to gain practical experience while working alongside full-time staff. This position focuses on Model-Based Product Development, where the analyst will assist in developing engine model capabilities and conducting performance analysis simulations. The role is flexible, accommodating students' academic schedules year-round, and offers a chance to work on significant engineering challenges in a supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing engine model capabilities, methodologies, processes, and tools.
- Provide support to engine development programs, conducting performance analysis simulations and optimization tasks.
- Assist in developing model test protocols, calibration procedures, and analysis methodologies.
- Support model architecture and workflow processes deployed throughout engine engineering.
Requirements
- Completed coursework in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, dynamics, heat transfer, experimentation, and measurement.
- Completed 50% of required credit hours toward an engineering degree.
- Use of standard engineering software, including MATLAB.
- Availability to work 16 - 20 hours/week during the academic calendar and 30 - 40 hours/week over the summer.
- Good communication and team skills.
- Full-time enrollment in an accredited degree program in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering discipline.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above.
- Graduation date (Spring of 2025) or later.

- Completed coursework in internal combustion engines.
- Engineering experience with internal combustion engines.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Bachelor of Science engineering degree or higher.
