About the position

The Part-Time Student Entrepreneurship Ambassador - Content Writer position at Indiana University (IU) Innovates is designed for students who are passionate about entrepreneurship and content creation. This role serves as a vital link between IU Innovates and the broader university community, promoting entrepreneurial activities and resources available to students, faculty, and staff. As an ambassador, you will be responsible for crafting engaging content that highlights the initiatives of IU Innovates, including events, opportunities, and resources that support aspiring entrepreneurs. Your work will not only inform current entrepreneurs at IU but also inspire others to engage with the entrepreneurial ecosystem on campus. In this role, you will create written content for various platforms, including flyers, social media posts, and a weekly newsletter. You will showcase the achievements of IU entrepreneurs, particularly those involved in the Sparklab incubation program, and coordinate the release of this content under the guidance of the Incubation Program Manager. Collaboration is key, as you will attend weekly meetings with other Entrepreneurship Ambassadors and program managers to ensure a cohesive and regular content strategy that aligns with IU Innovates' outreach goals. As a representative of IU's entrepreneurship community, you will also provide a welcoming experience for visitors and serve as a first point of contact for inquiries related to the IU Innovates program. This position requires a proactive approach to administrative duties, including preparing correspondence and reports, and managing visitor inquiries with professionalism and confidentiality. The role is dynamic and requires flexibility, as you will be expected to work between 6 to 15 hours per week, primarily during building hours, with occasional staffing for events.

Responsibilities

  • Create engaging written content for flyers, social media posts, and newsletters promoting IU Innovates and entrepreneurial activities.
  • Showcase the work of entrepreneurs at IU, including clients of the Sparklab incubation program.
  • Plan and coordinate the release of written content within a newsletter under the direction of the Incubation Program Manager.
  • Attend weekly meetings with other Entrepreneurship Ambassadors and program managers to ensure cohesive content release.
  • Serve as a first point of contact and informational resource for faculty, staff, students, and visitors regarding the IU Innovates program.
  • Perform administrative duties in support of the IU Innovates program, including preparing correspondence and reports.
  • Provide a welcoming experience to the network of people and resources in IU's entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate well with all stakeholders in various settings.
  • Ability to work independently and meet weekly deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with community-building, mentoring, or customer service environments.
  • Experience with content writing.
  • Familiarity with entrepreneurship.
