About the position

The University Information Technology Services (UITS) Endpoint Lifecycle team is dedicated to providing comprehensive support for computer endpoint ordering and lifecycle coordination at Indiana University. This internship role is designed for students currently enrolled at Indiana University who have an interest in IT project management. The intern will assist in organizing equipment for the Project Salmon computer lifecycle project, which involves working closely with various IU support groups to plan the deployment schedule for the equipment involved in this project. The intern will also monitor the inventory of Project Salmon equipment, keeping track of what has been received and what is still being processed by vendors. In addition to these responsibilities, the intern will meet regularly with the Endpoint Lifecycle manager to review prioritization, order fulfillment, and general project management oversight. This role provides an excellent opportunity for interns to shadow other team members, gaining insights into the various functions involved in computer endpoint procurement, preparation, and surplus processes. The position may also involve day-to-day tasks related to equipment management, providing a hands-on experience in IT project management within a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with organizing equipment for the Project Salmon computer lifecycle project.
  • Work with IU support groups to plan the deployment schedule for project salmon equipment.
  • Monitor project salmon equipment inventory, tracking what has been received and what is still being processed by vendors.
  • Meet with the Endpoint Lifecycle manager to review prioritization and order fulfillment.
  • Shadow other Endpoint Lifecycle team members to understand their roles in the computer endpoint procurement, prep, and surplus process.
  • Participate in the day-to-day processes of equipment management.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University with an interest in IT project management.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates project management skills.
  • Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, ServiceNow ticketing system.

Nice-to-haves

  • Currently enrolled in Information Technology, Informatics, or other computing/engineering field major or minor.
