About the position
Sylvan Learning Center in Gonzales is dedicated to ensuring that learning resonates with each child, and we are looking for passionate individuals to join our team as part-time Instructors. In this role, you will be trained on the Sylvan curriculum, which allows you to effectively teach in a small group setting with a 4:1 student-to-teacher ratio. Our center provides instruction in various subjects including Reading, Writing, Math, Study Skills, SAT/ACT Prep, and preparation for State exams, catering to students of all levels. One of the unique aspects of this position is that there is no lesson planning required; our SylvanSync program handles that, allowing you to focus on delivering quality education. As a part-time Instructor, your availability will be crucial, as we require you to work between 4 to 20 hours per week. The working hours are flexible, with shifts available from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM, Monday through Thursday, and on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering quality education by teaching using Sylvan-based programs, supervising and motivating students during instruction, rewarding them for completed assignments, and evaluating and documenting their progress. Communication with center directors regarding student needs is also a key part of the job. You will have the opportunity to develop rapport with students, create a fun learning environment, and maintain a positive attitude that demonstrates enthusiasm for teaching and the Sylvan approach.
Responsibilities
- Deliver quality education using Sylvan-based programs.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Teaching or tutoring experience required.
- State level teaching certification preferred.
