About the position

The Part-Time Animation and Game Development Tutor at Miami Dade College provides academic support to students in the Animation and Game Development programs. This role involves both on-site and online assistance, focusing on troubleshooting software issues, creating tutorials, and conducting live demonstrations. The tutor is responsible for diagnosing student deficiencies, assisting with assignments, and motivating students to achieve their academic goals.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a role model and motivates students to achieve and assists with their academic needs
• Monitors student's progress
• Attends all tutor trainings and required meetings
• Provides information to students via social media, text/chat services, email or telephone
• Guides students to use the educational software in the lab facilities
• Assists with the development of assets and the completion of department projects
• Attends and monitors department events as needed
• Helps academically at-risk MAGIC students by giving one-on-one lessons in problem areas and documents their progress
• Creates video tutorials to reinforce what MAGIC students learn in class
• Keeps up with the latest in software development for the department and its uses
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree from a regionally accredited institution in Animation or Game Development or equivalent
• Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a diverse population
• Possess superior organizational and time management skills
• Ability to coordinate with tutors and staff for projects and departmental needs
• Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite, animation and gaming industry related software
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
• Ability to stay up to date with the latest software updates and industry trends
• Possess strong interpersonal and decision-making skills
• Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty, and staff
