About the position

The Vibrant Life® Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of residents during outings and activities at the senior living community. This position involves driving the community's van, supervising residents, and assisting with various Vibrant Life® activities, all while maintaining a positive and safe environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate property vehicle/van safely for daily outings and medical appointments.
  • Assist with the safe loading of property residents onto and off of the property vehicle/van.
  • Follow all state and federal laws when operating the vehicle/van.
  • Comply with standards and processes of vehicle/van inspection and driving.
  • Act as a member of the Vibrant Life® staff during outings and within the community.
  • Participate in daily outings with residents, including assistance on and off the vehicle/van, supervision, and personal care support.
  • Assist with planned property Vibrant Life® activities and programs within the community between vehicle/van trips.
  • Ensure that the vehicle/van is in proper operational order and that registration and insurance information is up-to-date.
  • Promptly report all vehicle/van safety, mechanical, or maintenance issues to the supervisor.
  • Maintain communication with the property using a cell phone, keeping it charged and on during the workday.
  • Provide feedback to property staff on ways to improve safety during vehicle/van trips.
  • Train community staff on proper loading/unloading of the vehicle/van and wheelchair lift usage.
  • Report all known or suspected incidents of resident abuse as a mandated reporter.
  • Support the community's marketing efforts through positive interactions during property tours and telephone contact with the public.
  • Communicate any observed or suspected resident changes in condition to a supervisor immediately.
  • Perform day-to-day clerical work connected with the position.
  • Attend all scheduled in-service classes.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for all staff, residents, and guests, following established safety standards.
  • Encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers and other departments.
  • Support a positive and professional image through actions and dress.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the position as assigned by the Vibrant Life® Director.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age due to driving requirement and auto carrier's age restrictions.
  • High school education or GED required.
  • Valid Class of Driver's License required by state for vehicle/van capacity.
  • Prefer minimum of two years experience driving a vehicle/van.
  • Prefer experience with elderly and dementia residents.
