About the position

The Part Time Youth Crisis Client Service Specialist role involves providing direct and indirect mental health and substance abuse services as part of a multi-disciplinary crisis-oriented team. The position focuses on immediate crisis intervention for consumers with chronic mental illness, developmental disabilities, and co-occurring substance abuse issues. The specialist will engage in both in-person and phone-based crisis interventions, assist with hospital referrals, and may participate in mobile crisis calls alongside mental health therapists.

Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate crisis intervention services to consumers with chronic mental illness and possibly developmental disabilities and/or co-occurring substance abuse issues.
  • Conduct in-person and phone-based crisis intervention and assist with hospital referrals.
  • Deploy on mobile crisis calls with mental health therapists as needed.
  • Recommend referrals to various programs and services in the community.
  • Provide case management and facilitate brief crisis intervention plans.
  • Outreach to consumers with multiple needs and provide mental health services in a short-term crisis intervention program.
  • Maintain detailed case documentation.
  • Ensure all activities fulfill CMHA-CEI's mission, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field required.
  • Three years of supervised experience in the examination, evaluation, and treatment of minors and their families with Severe Emotional Disturbance or Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities.
  • Ability to monitor and facilitate the delivery of community-based integrative services from diverse providers.
  • Strong leadership and group facilitation skills required.
  • Energetic, flexible, creative, and innovative individual capable of developing strength-based, family-centered supportive case plans.
  • Ability to function as part of a team is critical.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.
  • Proficiency in CMHA-CEI computer software systems is necessary.
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license and access to reliable transportation for job-related use is required.
