About the position
The Partnership Development Specialist at Ames National Laboratory is responsible for developing and implementing partnership activities that align with the Laboratory's mission of conducting fundamental and applied research. This role focuses on fostering collaborations with external partners, including industry and academia, to enhance research and technology transfer initiatives. The specialist will leverage technical knowledge and development skills to support strategic initiatives, conduct market research, and improve existing partnerships while creating new models for collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement partnership activities to support Ames Laboratory's goals in research and technology transfer.
- Conduct market research and gather competitive intelligence to inform partnership strategies.
- Develop and implement marketing and engagement plans for partnership development.
- Collaborate with Laboratory researchers to create proposals and scopes of work for prospective partners.
- Enhance existing partnerships and establish new collaborative models with key stakeholders.
- Facilitate the Laboratory's ability to deliver critical materials solutions to the nation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience.
- Master's or PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or Engineering is preferred.
- Experience with technical program development in a high-tech industrial organization, government laboratory, or federal agency.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in developing partnerships in a research or technical environment.
- Familiarity with federal agency operations and funding mechanisms.
