About the position

The Partnership & Implementation Manager at Children's Literacy Initiative (CLI) plays a crucial role in advancing equity in public education, particularly for Black and Latinx children. Founded in 1988, CLI is a national 501c3 organization dedicated to ensuring that all children achieve reading success by the end of third grade. The organization accomplishes this through job-embedded coaching, professional development, and providing essential resources to educators and students. The Partnership & Implementation Manager is expected to embody the values of anti-racism and educational equity, driving an instructional vision that aligns with culturally and linguistically relevant pedagogy. This position requires a commitment to dismantling systemic racism in educational settings and ensuring that all children receive the support and advocacy they need to thrive. In this role, the manager will oversee a team of literacy coaches, manage relationships with school and district partners, and lead instructional reviews to identify needs and develop action plans. The manager will also facilitate professional development for educators, ensuring that the coaching provided is effective and aligned with CLI's mission. The successful candidate will have a strong background in education, particularly in schools serving predominantly Black and Latinx children, and will be skilled in adult learning and development. This position is not just about managing teams; it is about fostering a culture of feedback, collaboration, and continuous improvement to achieve the best outcomes for students and educators alike.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of literacy coaches across a portfolio of schools to support the coaching and development of teachers, improving daily instruction and student outcomes.
  • Lead school and system instructional reviews through learning walks to diagnose needs and work closely with school and systems leaders to develop action plans in alignment with their values and resources to support instructional improvement.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for district and school partners, answering questions, connecting with resources, and providing information to solve targeted instructional challenges.
  • Manage deliverables and activities within the portfolio, overseeing partnership retention and leading contract renewal conversations with current partners.
  • Support the executive director and/or regional manager in designing and facilitating regional presentations and training sessions for potential new partners.
  • Collaborate with the national content team to refine and develop practical tools and systems for internal staff members to support the work, including protocols and training materials.
  • Lead and support continuous reflection across the team to determine working challenges and develop solutions moving forward.
  • Build relationships with school and systems leaders to support the implementation of action plans and adjust course when necessary.
  • Create, design, and facilitate effective learning experiences for coaches through ongoing development, goal-setting, and progress-monitoring.
  • Facilitate adult learning experiences for school and system leaders within and across systems.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of education experience in schools that serve primarily Black and Latinx children.
  • 3+ years as a K-5 language arts teacher in a classroom with predominantly Black and Latinx children.
  • 3+ years of coaching and/or instructional leadership experience (assistant principal, school principal, or systems level).
  • Strong and inclusive management skills with a proven ability to develop adults.
  • Knowledge of school leadership key levers, decisions, and implications for change management.
  • Strong instructional and leadership instincts with a demonstrated record of success in student outcomes and teacher practice results.
  • Deep early literacy content knowledge and comprehensive understanding of pedagogy that affirms and sustains Black and Latinx children.
  • Deep understanding of approaches to transformational coaching, adult learning, and development that emphasizes equitable and identity-affirming outcomes for educators and leaders.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to track progress, understand gaps, and execute tasks with acute attention to detail.
  • Experience designing and leading compelling and relevant professional development.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English preferred.

  • Experience with web-based systems to track project deliverables and timelines.
  • Familiarity with anti-racist educational practices and frameworks.
