About the position

The Partnership Taxation Manager at Grant Thornton is responsible for conducting reviews of complex tax returns and providing consulting services to partnership clients. This role emphasizes collaboration within the Partnership Tax team to enhance client service and identify tax savings opportunities. The manager will utilize high-quality tools and resources to meet client needs and deliver effective solutions, while also mentoring staff and managing multiple client engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct primary and secondary reviews of complex tax returns.
  • Provide tax consulting services for partnership clients.
  • Evaluate the tax aspects of partnership agreements and manage IRC 704b accounts.
  • Manage multiple client services teams on various client engagements.
  • Plan, execute, direct, and complete tax projects across different industries.
  • Provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise to clients.
  • Market, sell, design, and implement tax-planning strategies for clients.
  • Manage, develop, train, and mentor staff on tax projects and assess their performance.
  • Research and consult on various tax matters, primarily in Sub-chapter K-Partnership taxation.
  • Utilize tax-related software to prepare and process returns and research tax matters.
  • Respond to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities.
  • Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations and enhance relationships.
  • Support business development activities, including proposal development and client pursuits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • CPA required.
  • Minimum six to ten years of progressive tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience in public accounting or a combination of industry and public accounting experience.
  • Experience with partnership structuring, entity formation, and mergers & acquisitions is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, technical, and tax accounting/technology skills with proficiency in US GAAP, partnership returns, joint venture and non-corporate entity tax returns, and understanding of Sub-chapter K partnership taxation.
  • Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.
  • Strong leadership, business development, recruiting, training, coaching, and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
