About the position

The Automotive Parts Counter Person is responsible for selling automotive parts to customers, both retail and shop, in a friendly and efficient manner. This role involves assisting customers in selecting the required parts, providing information on specials, and ensuring high levels of service. The position requires effective communication, order management, and maintaining organized records of transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist customers in selecting required parts in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Inform customers of companion part requirements and specials.
  • Answer phone calls, providing price quotes and other information.
  • Provide high level of service to internal and external customers.
  • Pull and fill orders from stock.
  • Notify parts manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials that need immediate attention.
  • Notify the service advisor and the customer when special ordered parts have been received.
  • Pull orders for delivery to body shop, ensuring all parts are tagged with customer names and job number.
  • Follow up on back-ordered parts.
  • Ensure all internal requests for parts are billed on service repair order.
  • Receive payment from retail customers or obtain credit authorization.
  • Ensure all charge sales are signed by the customer and that customers receive their copy of the invoice.
  • Issue credit for parts returned, verifying original invoice or its number.
  • Issue and track requested shop tools to technicians.
  • Keep orderly records of all repair orders, invoices, insurance estimates, and special-order parts.
  • Set up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick-up.
  • Keep front and rear counter areas clean and uncluttered.
  • Clean computer terminals and printers daily.
  • Participate in all training programs available.
  • Stay current on new products and product updates.
  • Participate with the parts manager in maintaining a lost sales tracking program.
  • Maintain a professional appearance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Preferred)
  • Driver's License (Preferred)

  • Experience in automotive parts sales
